OK all you good forumites. The best SHAKEDOWN i ever saw live
was 10-31-79. It is super spacey and funka-lisious!!! 18 mins of pure pleasure as i call it. We GROKED this show on friday nite for the few that showed up you've heard this one.

So now I through the gauntlet down.... I dare ya to find me a better one!!! Please because if there is one I'd love to hear it!! I also love the 11-20-78 SHAKEDOWN although I wasn't there and it is a shorter version of the tune.

Opimions anyone???

i Agree that 10-31-79 is one of the best. For me it really highlights Brent's contributions to the tune. I was fortunate enough to see the wwhole East Coast run from 8/31 through 11/10. As a 19yo kid it was an awesome experience, my first extended tour, and to this day, the best extended run of shows I was able to attend. What a run, 18 shows with very few dogs and a lot of great to excellent shows.

8-28-81 Long Beach is my favorite. My Vote as the most funky Shakedown groove I've heard.

I REALLY like what Jerry did with the third verse on that one, WHARFRAT.

I think this one was mentioned recently (maybe by William Tell, could have been Liamfinnegan, or perhaps I'm hallucinating). It'll set yer toes a-tappin':

woops! Gotta check the thread-I got beat to it on this show again, this time by elkdog (see above). Apparently a lot of us likes that Shakedown.

I have always been partial to 7/9/89 Giants Stadium; great vocal interplay before the second jam section gets the NY crowd into a frenzy! 9/18/87 MSG is a great one, but it's the DEW in that show that grabs all of the attention.

I never see this one mentioned, but it's always in my Top 3, if not my favorite. Can't say it's any 'spacier' than 10-31-79, which is great, but I like this one better for what jerry does with his undercurrent of gritty guitar in the jam:

1/10/79

terrific AUD available. Check it out.

If you haven't heard 6-30-1985 yet, you oughta check that one out. The Oade brothers recording of it is a fine, fine audience tape.
